Twellman stuns Fire in amazing 3-1 comeback win
FOXBORO, MA. Ė The New England Revolution got a crucial comeback victory over the Chicago Fire, thanks in part to two goals from Taylor Twellman. The past two years team goal scoring leader scored the game winner and an insurance goal to help pull the Revs (4-8-4) within a win of the Chicago Fire (4-6-6) for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East. The night was bittersweet for Twellman, however, as he received a red card in the 90th minute, meaning heíll miss the Revs next match. Rookie Clint Dempsey, who along with Pat Noonan was named as a reserve for the Eastern Conference All-Star team, recorded a goal and an assist in the match.

Ralston free kick ties Fire 1-1
Chicago, IL. Ė An amazing free kick by Steve Ralston just seconds after the Fire took the lead stunned the Fire and the record crowd of 39,529, while giving the New England Revolution (3-8-4) a crucial point on the road. While the Chicago Fire (4-5-6) controlled most of the possession, the Revs created the majority of good goal-scoring chances, but again failed to bury their chances and fell down 1-0 in the 50th minute on a Damani Ralph penalty kick goal before equalizing seconds later.

U.S. escapes with 1-1 draw against Poland
Chicago, IL. Ė The U.S. National Team wasted a penalty kick in the 11th minute that could have earned head coach Bruce Arena his 50th win, but still managed to keep their 6 game unbeaten streak alive with an equalizing goal in the 88th minute. Despite outshooting Poland 15 to 7, the U.S. found themselves trailing late in the game thanks to some poor shooting and it took defender Carlos Bocanegra to finally put the U.S. on the scoreboard.

Despite dominating, Revs come away with another loss
DENVER, CO. Ė A soccer game canít be won if a team doesnít take advantage of itís chances and the New England Revolution proved that on July 4th, losing to Colorado 1-0 despite creating the majority of good opportunities and dominating the possession. After seeing Colorado goalkeeper Joe Cannon earn Man of the Match for his several great saves to deny the Revs from scoring, opposing goalkeepers have now earned Man of the Match 5 times in the Revs 8 losses. The losses canít just be blamed on good goalkeeping however, as the Revs certainly havenít helped their cause by some very poor shot placement. Just like in the other losses, the Revs helped the goalie out by sending several point blank shots directly at him. Now with a 3-8-3 record and two games out of a playoff spot again, the Revs head into the away leg of a home and away series with the Chicago Fire that could see the Revs either leap frog the Fire into fourth or fall much deeper into last place.
