Revolution Defeat Defending Champs 4-0

The Revolution offense exploded against the Galaxy after scoring only two goals through all of April. Shalrie Joseph scored twice, while Taylor Twellman and Steve Ralston each added one. Jose Cancela earned man of the match honors for his assists on two of the goals and a shot that led to a third. The win was the second of the season for the Revs, with both coming against the Galaxy. |

Kansas City continued their perfect record of three wins in three games at the expense of the Revolution. With a little help from the referee, Kansas City defeated the defending Eastern Conference Champions and pulled five points ahead of them in the standings. |

Revs held to a scoreless draw by Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls’ home opener will likely be more remembered for pre-game and halftime festivities than the game itself. The new ownership of the New York franchise went all out to make the game an exciting event, honoring former greats of New York’s soccer past, including Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer, in a pre-game ceremony and bringing in Shakira and Wyclef Jean to perform at halftime. The match itself, while a lively affair, was marred by poor finishing on both sides. |

Revs kick off season with victory over the defending champions on the road

The New England Revolution started off the season in style on Saturday, April 1st with a 1-0 win in Los Angeles against the defending champions, the Galaxy. After losing 1-0 in overtime to the Galaxy in last year’s MLS Cup final and then seeing the Galaxy presented with their championship rings before the game, the Revs had all the motivation they would need. |
