Revolution advance to MLS Cup 2005 with win over Chicago

Foxboro, MA. – The New England Revolution defeated the Chicago Fire on Sunday to earn a trip to the 2005 MLS Cup Final. Clint Dempsey scored the game’s lone goal in the 4th minute and the Revs held on to win their second Eastern Conference Championship. The Revs will face off against the Los Angeles Galaxy in the final, a rematch of the only other time the Revs made the final in 2002. |

Revs advance to Eastern Conference Final with spectacular comeback

Foxboro, MA. – Playing their first ever game in snow, the New England Revolution overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Metrostars 3-2 on aggregate goals in the Eastern Conference Semifinal. After losing game 1 on the road 1-0, the Revs found themselves down 2-0 on aggregate when Youri Djorkaeff scored in the 59th minute of game two. The Revs then scored three unanswered goals to advance to the Conference Final for the fourth year in a row. |

Revs end regular season with 1-0 victory over Fire

Foxboro, MA. - Having already secured the top spot in the East, the New England Revolution played a game with little meaning, but came out on top with a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Fire. Taylor Twellman scored the lone goal of the match to up his goal total to 17 and secure the MLS Golden Boot as the top scorer of the season. |

Revs earn point with more late game heroics

Columbus, OH. - Some more late game heroics by Taylor Twellman saved the first place Revs from suffering an embarrassing defeat against the last place Columbus Crew on Wednesday. The Revs put three times more shots on target than Columbus, yet looked to be going home with a lose until Twellman extended his lead atop the scoring charts with his 16th goal of the season deep into stoppage time. |
